Formed in 1965 by partners Norman Finkel and Robert F. Martwick, the firm became Finkel
Martwick & Colson in 1985 with addition of partner William P. Colson.
FMC undertook its first real estate tax case in 1969. From 1972 until the present, FMC has worked exclusively in the field of real estate taxation. The majority of cases handled by FMC lie within Cook County, but the firm has experience representing clients in every collar county as well as downstate counties and the practice has extended to neighboring states, including Wisconsin, Indiana, and Michigan. FMC practices before all assessment officials, including local township and county Assessors, county Boards Of Review, County Circuit Courts (for the filing and litigating of specific objection lawsuits), and the Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board. In addition to valuation complaints, FMC represents clients pursuing tax exemptions and tax incentive classification benefits. |
